What's also great about the CEO's statement is that he never professes innocence. He just states that they believe in the justice system and that the situation will resolve favorably (for someone, who's to say who).

The statement isn't from the CEO, which is what made me think about whether the CMO set the whole thing up.

Either way, there is no denial, and even better if the CMO is second-in-line to the CEO, so then the situation will revolve very favorably for him.
